The Gods of Liuwrend

Hesh

The Goddess of Void.

Her abilities lie in the power to absorb the magical energies around her, canceling out magical defenses, destroying spells, and replenishing her own mana by stealing it from her foes. All magic is ineffective against Hesh, including healing magics. Her magic has never been found to be used in any mortal. After a falling out among the gods, Hesh is presumed dead.

Fincoris

The God of Chaos and Illusions.

Fincoris is a master of conflict. He meddles endlessly in political matters and finds joy in misleading others to their downfall. Followers of Fincoris, known as the Fencari, serve as spies for royalty and noble families to protect their master's interests and cause dissent in their enemies' courts. Specializing in illusions and alteration, Fincoris and those who practice his magic prevent their enemies from reliably trusting their own senses and instincts. The strongest of the Fencari can even alter entire landscapes and surroundings, with some even rumored to cause physical damage from so totally convincing their foe's brains of the altered reality.

Yldos

The God of the Elements.

Elemental magic is not exclusive to the power of Yldos, but those blessed by him are given power magnitudes higher than what can naturally be obtained otherwise. Most magicians that serve in their land's military are naturally attuned to the elemental energies. Like Hesh, Yldos was a casualty of a falling out among the gods, and has been dead for quite some time. As a result, there are none alive that can harness the pure destructive energy Yldos was capable of providing. While elemental magic still remains powerful in its own right, it has been crippled by the loss of its patron god.

Aphaeleon

The God of Laws.

Aphaeleon is the god of truth, justice, and order. His followers are known as the Scions of Aphaeleon, capable of producing magic that compels their enemies to adhere to rules of their creation. This is used to create unique advantages in battle, giving them the upper hand. The Scions of Aphaeleon are known as peacemakers in human cities, as their magic wanes on the battlefield, where the morals of right and wrong become blurred. The stronger their belief in their own justice, the stronger their magic grows. Aphaeleon and his order are inherently distrustful of beastfolk, considering them as less than civilized.

Shydde

The Goddess of Monsters, Beasts, and the Hunt.

Shydde is known for her love of nature and animals, and this connection is made manifest in her followers. Those of them who are magically inclined tend to become summoners, commanding terrifying beasts and monsters who they have captured, able to create a copy of it through mana. Others yet become beastmasters, forming pacts with wild animals.

Both summoners and beastmasters are linked to their beasts, gaining abilities from them such as increased strength, agility, elemental resistances, and even the magic their beast uses. One of the most famous beastmasters had tamed a dragon, gaining the power to breathe fire and fly.

Summoning is considered the safer option, as they merely lose their mana reserves when their summon is defeated, but beastmasters lose their own life force if their companion is killed. Summoners can also make new contracts at will, able to tame a myriad of different monsters while beastmasters make a link for life. With this, it is generally known that beastmasters have a stronger and deeper connection with their beast, allowing them to use more of their power than a summoner ever could.

Lilea

The Goddess of Life.

Lilea's presence is everywhere on Liuwrend, with her healers in high demand across the continent. Whether through magic or the alchemical creation of healing potions, Lilea's followers value life above all, and will not hesitate to save a life, be it friend or foe. Those particularly blessed by Lilea's influence have been capable of creating permanent enhancing elixirs and saving one from the brink of death.

Ialdin

The God of Knowledge.

Ialdin has the unique ability of foresight, able to see deep into the future, and some especially attuned mortals have found themselves able to do the same. Ialdin abhors ignorance above all, overseeing the creation of tomes that compile knowledge from every and any aspect of life. Access to his vast libraries across the continent is considered a privilege and while most knowledge is free to anyone, only Ialdin's chosen may venture deep into the underground crypts of his libraries. Some books are reported to be powerful enough to magically imbue its knowledge into the holder. Some with the gift of foresight have been able to train it to the point of combat application, able to see a few moments into the future to predict an enemy's movements. An over-reliance on this ability, however, has always led to lasting damage of the psyche of the user.

Khetros

The God of Death and Rebirth.

Necromancers overwhelmingly follow Khetros with a blind fervor. He provides his cult with access to a form of magic that does not naturally occur in the land of Liuwrend, and as such, none can use it without Khetros's blessing. Despite this, the necromancers are well-regarded in the land, as they provide funeral services and honor the dead in a commendable way. Necromancers rarely use their magic for nefarious purposes, but the few times they have taken to the battlefield has shown a magic that allows them to control and animate the dead.

Thaldir

The God of War.

Thaldir is known as the patron god of soldiers everywhere. Believing in the silent honor of hand to hand combat, the lifelong pursuit of strength and personal development go hand in hand with the soldiers who follow after Thaldir. They are known for their honor and refusal of dishonest tactics, making excellent advisors. They respect their enemies and consider mercy one of the greatest virtues. Thaldir does not provide any unique magics to mortals. Instead, many are trained to use the most basic form of mana to reinforce their bodies, turning them as hard as steel.
