The Races of Liuwrend
Human
The most populous of all sapient species on Liuwrend, humans have spread across the entire continent, finding ways to make the landscape their home. Whether in cities on the cliffs of the enormous Vernet Range that bisects the continent or on the grassy plains of the east, where their largest kingdom of Dangul resides, humans have a strong will to thrive. Generally humans are quick learners and almost all of them are naturally gifted in one skill or another. The sheer variety of abilities they can display is the greatest of all the races on Liuwrend.
Oth'tun
It is unclear when the Oth'tun arrived in Liuwrend but they are not originally native to the continent. They have shown surprising adaptability to the landscape. Choosing to live in mountain cities, these bipedal felines have tremendous night vision and thick fur which provide excellent protection against the sharp natural stones of their homes. They venture out at night to hunt and gather, crafting vast natural gardens that blend into the landscape and hiding their location. Their history and lifestyles are generally unknown to the other races, as Oth'tun very rarely leave their communities. While lithe and agile, Oth'tun have tremendous trouble using weapons that are not a natural extension of their senses, relying mostly on their claws and fangs. Offensive magic does not come easy to their people, preferring magic that heals and grows, shaping their natural environment. They revere this nature above all and most refuse to use the land's natural mana in an unnatural way.
Qashk
A Race of Lizardfolk that have the appearance of salamanders. They live on the volcanic Lansh'kal Isles in the southeast. Many Qashk are fire type elementals, and all can breathe fire from a special sac they have evolved. They are sleek and fast and those who do not prefer the outwardly display of elementalism generally become experts in espionage and assassination. The Qashk are a sexually dimorphous race; the males are wide, flat, and tall while the females are thinner, rounder, and noticeably smaller. They use a unique language amongst themselves and their culture as a whole is shockingly different to the mainland kingdoms. The common tongue is becoming more and more common, however, as they venture more into the mainland for trade.
Areòmh
The Areòmh are a race of sea-dwelling serpents. Commonly mistaken as kin of the Qashk, they are another race of lizardfolk. They are tall with a long curved neck and fins that cover a set of four gills. They naturally absorb humidity from the air and are generally well adapted to life on land, though their true home is the ocean. Their gills allow them to breathe underwater and they are much more adept than any other race when it comes to the ocean. Their affinity for the sea allows them naval dominance as they have developed a unique form of warship that cannot be commanded by any other than the Areòmh. Their gifts with water magic accents their incredible ability with spears. Thankfully, this race are more concerned with living their lives in peace rather than going to war, and as such, have developed a neutral stance across the politics of Liuwrend, serving instead as protectors of the land's coast, working in tandem with the land-dwelling races that live nearby.
Tuhlar
The Tuhlar are a humanoid race, almost indistinguishable from humans at a glance. Look close, though, as their long, pointed ears, and slight green tint to their skin will tell you all you need to know about this forest-dwelling people. Most Tuhlar are small of stature, spending most of their time in tree lines and the canopy of the forest rather than on the ground. They are known as peerless archers and beastmasters with an average aptitude for magic, few showing true talent with mana manipulation. Of those that do, their abilities are unmatched among mortals due to the vast mana reserves they develop over their long lives. As with humans, the Tuhlar have split into different subsets in their culture. Magically adept Tuhlar are considered the highest caste, skilled warriors ranking below, followed by crafters and finally, the lower class. Those who dedicated their lives to magic develop different than the Tuhlar, growing much taller and losing their green kissed skin as it develops into deep shades of greys and blues. They are so very nearly a different species of Tuhlar that most outsiders misinterpret their relations, calling these ones the Ihl-Tuhlar. There is truth in this distinction as this gap between the Ihl-Tuhlar and the Tuhlar continues to expand every generation. The seat of power for the Tuhlar is a vast fortified city known as Jaath Serin that sits wrapped around a giant mountain and the forest before it.
Orc
The Orc are the newest sapient race of Liuwrend, existing for barely more than a hundred years. As such, they have no permanent territory of their own and instead live in nomadic groups of warbands. This struggle to find a land to call their home has exacerbated the tensions between them and the humans, as nearly everywhere they go, a human city stands in their way. Orcs are cunning, stronger physically than any other race, and brutal. Their fury, though, is almost exclusively pointed towards humans, who they see as persecutors of all the other races of Liuwrend. Orcs willfully provide help and aid to any beastfolk, though they are finding themselves coming closer and closer to a crossroads with the Tuhlar as they watch them become more and more human in their way of life. Each Orc warband has their own style and way of life, leading to many classifications of Orc between them, as their culture diversifies. Among these, the War Orc clan is the most prominent as they are led by the strongest Orc to have lived yet, Yrgog the Wolfheart.
